5 Things you could ask that can save you lots of money
- Ask the seller to pay the closing costs on a home
According to Zillow.com, closing costs are ranging from $3,000 to $7,500. On average, closing fees cost $3,700. If the seller agrees to pay for the closing costs, it can be a potentially huge saving for you!
- Ask for a lower credit card APR
Have you ever noticed that your credit cards APR interest are creeping up higher and higher? If you carry a balance, this could mean extra monies going toward interests. I have done this myself, all you have to do is pick up the phone and call your credit card company and ask for a reduction in the APR. More than likely, your credit card company will agree to lower your APR.
- Ask if you really have to pay that medical bill
According to Medicare, on average 49% of medical bills contain errors. That number can go up as high as 80% in some cases. Therefore, it is important to keep an eye out there for errors and to dispute it as soon as possible. Unpaid medical bills will be reported one of the major report credit companies and may negatively affect your credit score.
- Ask for a discount on your cable bills
Most of us have fallen into the trap of cable companies’ promotions. For example, I signed up for DirecTV with monthly promotion rates of $35. Guess what? After that initial 2-year contract is up. Your discounts will slowly disappear and rates will revert back to pre-promotion rates. In my case, when I first had DirecTV, it was costing me around $100. After 6 years, I was paying $158 with no new changes to my packages.
Needless to say, I’ve joined the millions of millennials out there, declaring that enough is enough! I cut the cord and saved $1,800 yearly on cable bills. - Ask for a coupon from a manufacturer for prescription drugs

Granted, as with everything, there are terms and limitations to such savings. But hey, it doesn’t hurt to ask or try to see if you qualify for the savings!
